Two Berliners, one duo
As a DJ duo, Bader & Bernhard have been playing for more than two decades. They share their love of music with their audience, blending styles like new dance, funk, soul and pop classics with 80s and 90s tracks and current favourites – effortlessly and with style. Little wonder, then, that of all people it was cult director and music lover Quentin Tarantino who booked them for his film premiere parties. After all, Tarantino is known as a treasure hunter of forgotten song gems.
Eva Be and Clarice, both born and raised in Berlin, met in the city’s club and nightlife scene in the early 2000s, where each was already making a name of her own. The two DJs’ sounds turned out to have intriguing common ground – and shortly afterwards they founded the duo Bader & Bernhard. At that time, in that field, an absolute novelty. From then on they played venues such as the Berlin club Cookies, the Kulturbrauerei, the Rodeo Club and Bar Tausend, and many more. Parties, film premieres, international corporate and large-scale events in Berlin and across Germany have been elevated by Bader & Bernhard’s tasteful and wide-ranging sets ever since. But it is the small, exclusive lounge shows that delight their audience just as much.
Bader & Bernhard are professionals who treat the job as a calling and practise it with dedication and respect. As collectors of vinyl treasures, they can always draw on a broad repertoire and prepare individually for each event. Behind the turntables the two radiate elegance, glamour and empathy. There is a certain constancy and love of detail in this style of playing – one that has outlasted a good many passing trends.
Bader & Bernhard’s mixes are all over the internet. But the real energy is released on the dancefloor, in the middle of the dancing crowd. With an unmistakable instinct for the right selection, the two draw their audience in. Or, in their own words: “The best part is merging with the crowd and losing yourself with them in a passionate party mood.”
