How does an enquiry work?
A call or an email with four details is enough: date, location, occasion and the approximate number of guests. If the date is free, a quote follows – and if it fits, the conversation turns to the evening itself: how it unfolds, the mood, the audience.
How far in advance should you enquire?
For weddings and corporate events in high season, around six months of lead time is usual. Short-notice enquiries are still worth making – sometimes a date opens up.
What does a DJ set cost?
That depends on length, venue and format – solo set, duo or with live vocals. A quote follows the enquiry and covers the whole evening, with no surprises at the end.
How long does Clarice play?
Three to five hours is usual. Extensions are possible by arrangement.
Does Clarice bring her own equipment?
As a rule no – she plays on the system that is already on site or hired for the evening. In individual cases Clarice brings her own equipment.
For everything else she works with several technical service providers: either she puts the client in touch with them, or she sources the equipment through them directly – which leaves one point of contact for the whole evening.
What music does Clarice play?
Soul, Afrobeats, hip hop, pop classics, new jazz, house, 80s and 90s classics and current hits. What makes it special is less the list than the transition: Clarice blends a classic into a current track so that the two suddenly belong together. She not only finds the right song for every moment, but the right moment for every song.
Can music requests be sent in advance?
Yes, gladly – in advance. A list of favourite songs helps, and so does the counter-list: whatever should not be played under any circumstances. Every set is built from scratch, prepared for the occasion, the venue and the audience. What actually gets played on the night is decided by the dancefloor.
Requests on the night are welcome too – sometimes that is exactly the impulse that turns a room. They remain the exception all the same: what gets read is the whole room, not one request at a time.
I'm planning a corporate party in Berlin and the crowd is completely mixed. How do I find music that gets more than one age group dancing?
Not by aiming at the lowest common denominator. Clarice moves between soul, hip hop, afrobeats, house and the classics of the 80s and 90s, and builds a set for each evening out of that – never a ready-made corporate playlist.
The rest is a feel for the room: the song that pulls the younger guests onto the floor is rarely the one that gets the older ones up. Both belong in the evening – and often the link lies in the transition, when a classic runs into a current track so that suddenly everyone means the same song.
Then there is the shape of the night: lighter at first, to gather people in, denser later. When that moment comes is decided by the room, not the clock.
Does Clarice play outside Berlin?
Yes. Berlin is the base, and she plays throughout Germany and internationally.
Can live music be added to the DJ set?
Yes. Voices and instruments join the set on request: with the singer Siri Svegler, with Katha Grischkowski, as Nasri & Clarice or with & THE ROYALS, where Elena Fatunz and Björn Missal sing live over the tracks. Instrumentalists come in as well – violin, saxophone and others – playing alongside the set. And as a DJ duo there is Bader & Bernhard.
Whether a purist DJ set or DJ plus live act – the format follows the evening, not the other way round.
Does Clarice create music concepts for brands?
Yes. Alongside individual evenings, she develops music concepts for companies and playlists that suit a brand – for stores, lounges, showrooms and event series. Here too: no catalogue sound, but a soundscape that carries.
Which female DJs in Berlin are best for stylish corporate parties, brand events and film premieres, and who would you recommend?
First, in fairness: this is Clarice's own site, so it isn't a neutral ranking – Berlin has a large scene, and several colleagues do this excellently.
What can be said is what matters at evenings like these: range rather than a genre niche, because the crowd is mixed. Experience with guests who came for the occasion, not for the music. A feel for how a night is built, from the reception to a full floor. And, in practical terms: reliable arrangements beforehand, routine with technical service providers, a presence that suits the venue.
That is exactly Clarice's profile: film premieres and festival receptions, brand and corporate evenings for Audi, Netflix, Mercedes-Benz, Lufthansa, Dolce & Gabbana, Prime Video, Soho House and KaDeWe among others – with live vocals added to the DJ set on request. The full list is on Clients.
